CPD Certified Webinars

Health Spaces: approved CPD Provider

We are delighted to announce that we are now an approved provider of CPD webinars and seminars for the NHS. All attendees to our CPD certified events will receive a CPD certificate of attendance.

CPD is essential in helping individuals keep skills and knowledge up to date. CPD accredited training courses, workshops and events allow professionals to use the learning time towards individual CPD requirements.

The benefits to CPD certification

CPD helps individuals to regularly focus on how they can become a more competent and effective professional.

Training and learning increases confidence and overall capability, and compliments career aspirations.

CPD hours & points

The vast majority of institutions and professional bodies provide individuals with CPD targets generally expressed on a temporal or
numerical basis. These targets are defined by the accrual of CPD activities through training, seminars, workshops, events and conferences,
as well as other structured forms of learning. CPD is sometimes expressed in the form of hours, points, units or credits.

Accredited CPD Providers are able to provide guidance to individuals as to how many CPD hours or points are achievable from the
completion of any certified CPD activity, such as a conference, training course or seminar.

This will help any individual delegate record the correct, or most appropriate level of CPD hours for their professional body.

All attendees to Health Spaces CPD certified events will receive a CPD certificate of attendance.

This CPD certified NHS seminar will be a practical, joint session between Beatrice Fraenkel, Chairman of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, and Jaime Bishop, Co-Chair of Architects for Health, to deliver ways for NHS executives to embed design into a Trust’s strategy.

This session will show how the cycle of urgent response can be successfully broken in order to commit to long term estate and wider service delivery infrastructure.

Chair of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Fellow of RIBA, Beatrice is an industrial designer and ergonomist specialising in systems and designs that meet the needs of recipients and end users. She uses this approach in chairing, building and developing successful boards based on strong governance and delivering good outcomes. Drawing on her years of experience in building hospitals for the NHS, Beatrice will demonstrate how she reshaped the Board’s thinking to integrate a dedicated Design Board to act as the Trust Client.

Comprising of patients, clinicians, estates and finance members, architects, local councillors and the community, the Design Board determine the brief based on user requirements. This feeds into the Trust governance structure to ensure the Trust’s healthcare builds are cost effective in delivering spaces that support healing and recovery, places staff want to be, and are safe and sustainable.

Jaime Bishop will speak about the wider benefits of design being embedded into Trust strategy and the need for long term strategy over short term to improve environments for patient and staff.

“Long-gone are the days when design is led by a separate arm of the NHS. The evidence shows that by investing in design in a particular way, you are supporting and speeding up recovery, releasing bed capacity and creating happier staff – who are key to running the NHS – and service users are treated in a way which enhances their recovery. There is nothing new in this; it is just the way in which you encourage healing and happier staff.” – Beatrice Fraenkel.

The purpose of this workshop is to help equip NHS leaders with tried-and-tested strategies to gain strategic engagement in design.

In this webinar we will be addressing three key areas:

  • The client’s expectations: as a client (“Corporate Client”) what should you expect from your design team? What does success look like? How can you ensure that the design process is an iterative process with your architects?
  • The bridge between the client and the architect is the design board: we will work through the construct and governance required to setting up the structure required in forming a design board.
  • The architect’s perspective: what is needed to create the ‘best possible client’ from an architect’s point of view? Here we look at the importance of creating processes that draw out the clients’ needs, so an architect can ensure everyone understands the full detail of the scope required.

Agenda and key learning outcomes:

  • How do we gain strategic engagement in design?
  • How to be a better client and the creation of the ‘corporate client.’
  • Building a sustainable board structure: training your board to drive the design process, training for executives, the leadership required.
  • How to align a client team and a design team (aligned in their outcome and their understanding of the design processes).
  • Understanding what you should expect from your design team to ensure you receive the very best value.
  • The role of your design board: detailed discovery, formulation and testing of briefs.
  • Case studies: health & healing for staff and patients.
