Team supports local food bank initiative

At Health-Spaces, our commitment to community well-being extends beyond the realm of healthcare. Organised by Rebecca Nash, Operations Administrator, the team has this month been  collecting items for our local food bank in Peterborough to provide both emergency food and Christmas donations.

“As a company we are passionate about supporting charities both local to us in Peterborough and in communities where we’re building new hospitals and or designing new health spaces. We were made aware that our local food bank was in desperate supply of donations so wanted to support them. As a hospital design and healthcare construction company, team members are understandably based all over the UK – and at different new hospital construction sites nation-wide – so the activity has also served as a brilliant way to bring the team together. It’s gone so well that we’re planning to support the local food bank throughout the year.”

The food bank is run by The Trussell Trust, who supports a nationwide network of food banks. Yogether they provide emergency food and support to people facing hardship, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

The Trust has a network of more than 1,300 food bank centres in the UK providing a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food to people who have been referred, as well as support and advice to help people maximise their incomes and lift themselves out of poverty.

Between April 2022 and March 2023, they provided almost 3 million food supplies to people in crisis, a 37% increase on the previous year.
