Smart Hospital Design: Through the Eyes of Patients & Staff

Focussing on the complex design process, in which children and young people played a key role, Crispin demonstrates the impact the design has had for staff, patients and their families.
Beth Roberts, Creative Design Lead at Health Spaces, discusses with Crispin Walkling-Lea, Head of Healthcare Planning – Space & Place at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, the hospital’s new Sight and Sound Centre which won the European Healthcare Design Award in the healthcare design category (under 25,000 sqm) and was highly commended in the art and interior design category.
The centre opened in June 2021 and was supported by Premier Inn, commissioned by Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust; Designed by Sonnemann Toon Architects, Built by Kier. Please note: this was not a Health Spaces project.
