Health on the High Street webinar
Institute of Place Management | 11th May 2pm – 3.30pm | ‘Demolish, re-purpose, re-let’.
Hosted by the Institute of Place Management, Health Spaces will be joining a panel of specialists to discuss the benefits to situating health services in the heart of the community. From reducing reliance on the acute hospital setting to bringing life back to our town centres and cities, a variety of ‘Health on the High Street’ initiatives will be examined from across the UK.
Jaime Bishop, healthcare architect, co-chair of Architects for Health and lead architect at Health Spaces will examine the benefits to creating a new kind of health space in the heart of local communities and the wider support required to re-purpose existing and well-located spaces on our high streets. Using examples from the ideas which led to the Wolfson Essay: The Well-Placed Hospital and recent work from Health Spaces, Jaime will discuss the multifaceted opportunities that integrating healthcare into the high street can bring to both our communities and the NHS. Drawing on ‘The Civic Supermarket’ Jaime will also talk through the evolution of ideas and interesting challenges which are now arising as projects undergo implementation.
Demolish, re-purpose, re-let?
What’s your town centre doing with its vacant shopping centre and department store spaces?
In some of our town and city centres, shopping centres that took a hit before and during COVID are once again increasing occupancy. High street buildings left empty by the demise of their department store tenant are back in retail business. But for some it’s a struggle.
If the shopping centre in your place has many gaps or is struggling even mostly-occupied because of reduced rents, and you’ve a large footprint empty store or more, what are your options?
This IPM webinar will hear from specialists in bringing these key buildings back into use, explore current case studies, and examine the pros and cons of alternative options including residential, office, leisure, arts & crafts, education, health and more.
What is the Health on the High Street model from Health Spaces?
Our Health on the High Street model offers a very simple solution to solve two high-profile social and economical issues that can help alleviate hospital pressures and waiting times whilst bringing footfall and life back to ailing high streets.
Health Spaces offer NHS Trusts a turnkey solution to provide fully fitted, fully compliant, multi-purpose clinical spaces in high street locations throughout the UK, either as a leased facility or as a design and build project. This is a fast-track and cost-effective way of upscaling capacity and is proving a popular way of tackling growing RTT waiting times in elective care and diagnostics. The model is also an excellent solution for accommodating Community Diagnostic Hubs in the region.
A development of our re-purposing work, Health Spaces are supporting NHS Trusts across the UK to create clinical spaces in vacant retail and light industrial buildings. Find out more about how we are supporting the NHS with our Health on the High Street model.
