Founded in 2021, Health Spaces are award-winning hospital estates and design consultants with integrated project delivery capabilities.
We are owned by Specialist Health Solutions Ltd (SHS), a group of companies founded in 2007 providing a range of solutions that have helped deliver better healthcare, faster, and for more than a decade and to millions of patients worldwide.
Health Spaces and SHS have a strong track record in the successful delivery of exceptional services to the NHS and healthcare providers globally. Our years of experience working within healthcare have introduced us to almost every clinical setting available. Bringing knowledge of global best practice to all of our delivery streams, our portfolio includes estate-wide development control strategy programmes, new healthcare builds and hospital refurbishment schemes. More recently, we have been working with a Trust to trial principles related to the New Hospital Programme, including the design of single in-patient rooms.
The expertise of our multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals spans the full spectrum of hospital design and construction workflows – including clinical and estates strategy, business case writing, healthcare design and construction delivery – drawing on decades of experience from projects across the NHS and international health systems.
Alongside our healthcare design services, we passionately support the evolution of healthcare within our local communities and actively work with healthcare providers to raise awareness of Health on the High Street initiatives.

We work both independently and collaboratively with our panel of current and ex-NHS and healthcare SMEs to harness the collective knowledge within current healthcare needs to the benefit of our clients, ensuring we continue to understand the on-going pressures faced in healthcare – in the UK and around the world.
Many of the team are members of Architects for Health, a not-for-profit body leading the campaign for quality in all healthcare architecture and construction, including influencing future technical guidance.
In 2023 we launched the FORTIS platform for the NHS to share case studies, thought-leadership in healthcare design and latest innovations. Going beyond healthcare architecture and NHS estate strategy, the forum supports the sharing of insight and learnings in one central place, delving into the most pressing and pertinent topics facing the NHS; all with the same shared goal of creating exceptional patient and staff experiences.
